This is the Lancaster Canal - Glasson Branch, which was opened in 1820, shortly after the main canal line, and provided the link from the inland waterway to the sea. Just up ahead of this bridge is the canal terminus, in the Glasson Dock, with lock gates that provided the interchange between the open water and the canal system.
Super shot, on one of my favourite walks - Lancaster to Glasson Dock on the disused railway, Glasson Dock to canal main line along this branch, then main line back into Lancaster. Fav!
