No-one home by peadar

No-one home

Day 2 of our canal trip and we are heading north to Banbury and then Cropredy. This is one of the lock-keeper's cottages which has fallen into disrepair and ruin. So sad to see.

Today we will have completed 11 miles with 8 locks (so 19 lock-miles). With a stop of a couple of hours in Banbury for lunch and shopping, we were cruising for around 7 hours.

Many thanks for all of your comments and support. Internet access is patchy on the canal network so my ability to upload and comment is a little restricted.
W usually attend the Folk Festival at Cropredy....but unfortunately this is the 2nd year it has had to be cancelled. There are always so many lovely boats moored there

That shot had to be black & white. Very well done.

How sad, hope the lock keepers cottage can be restored.

Great lock capture. Do you operate the lock-gate yourself?

Nice story, perfect in b&w. Fav

@haskar Yes, 95% of the locks on the canals are operated by the boat crews. Some difficult "flights" of multiple locks have salaried lock-keepers. Others (e.g. very busy ones) sometimes have volunteer helpers and guides.
