This is actually a shot from yesterday, as it rained so frequently today I didn't get a chance for much photography. But after returning to the boat from our visit to the local hostelry last night (ahem!), this shot just couldn't be ignored.
Fenny Compton (the name is derived from the Anglo Saxon for "farmland in a marshy valley) is a small village north of Oxford which traces its roots back to the 12th century at least. When the Oxford Canal was built through here in the late 18th century (to take coal from The Midlands down to Oxford and London), it was a convenient staging post between Napton and Banbury, and it remains so today.
Many thanks for all of your recent comments and support, all are very much appreciated.
Ian
