Wind pump by peadar

Wind pump

Norfolk Broads series: much like The Netherlands, The Broads are largely reclaimed wetlands, made possible with many of these wind-pumps. Now the pumping is all done using electric motors. Most of the old wind-pumps, like this one, have had their sails removed and some are converted to accommodation. There are around 250 of these dotted across Norfolk. It is said that they also assisted pirating and smuggling, used by marsh folk to signal the arrival of Customs Officers at regular beach landing sites.

Interesting looking windmill. The wetlands near me are being maintained by solar power pumps these days.

What an interesting wind pump. Has a look of a Dalek but with a smart hairdo, ha ha.

Such an interesting story. We don’t have any of those wind pumps, not even in the reclaimed lands

Interesting. They must be quite dark inside.
