Continuing the Ypres series in the Extras album. This is the remains of a WWI trench system just outside Ypres. The trees have all grown since, of course, at the time this would have been completely stripped of all vegetation by successive waves of artillery bombing.
And wet. It would've probably been very wet and miserable... It's great that you posted this, and also made note of the past of the place. It's in places like these that one feels the presence of history the best, at least that's how it is for me. One of my most memorable "Oh dear, this is where history happened" moments was when I stood by the Traitors' Gate in the Tower of London. You really feel the weight of the past. I'm sure you felt something like that when you saw the trenches.
