This rather attractive model loco represents a British Rail Class 17-6 from the early part of the 20th century. This is in "late BR steam" livery, so dates from the 1950's after a rebuild.
61669 'Barnsley' was originally launched on the 5th May 1937 for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER). It was re-numbered as '61669' when passed to British Railways in 1948 when the railways were nationalised. Strictly speaking it shouldn't appear on my layout as this is based is Southern Railways territory, but what the heck! It's only a model!
