...but not a snow day for Tom. He headed into the office this morning despite the Snowpocalypse that has hit CLT. :) I went in with him to take some photos of the snow in uptown. There were only a handful of people on the train with us and not a lot of activity on the streets. Kind of cool.
**Edit**Okay, I'm a team player and I don't want to pass up an opportunity to participate, so I'm going to tag this for the theme as "The Spy Who Came in From the Cold". Tom is playing the Richard Burton part. :)
I absolutely love sepia!! I love this shot and I like how you can still see the suns rays on the snow despite the sepia!
We ended up with a snowday here as well...how much snow did you gather? we got 10-11 inches in north central Alabama!
@caeralee ~ we have about 6" on the ground where I am and it's still snowing/sleeting enough for another possible inch of accumulation. I can't believe how much snow Alabama received! I have family in Huntsville and they had about 9"! Crazy weather!!
There are so many things that I love about this photo Peggy. First, I love that you can see lights on it the sky scraper off on the left. It looks really pretty against the still somewhat dark sky. I also love that the snow is so fresh. You can't even find footprints in the snow. It's cool that Tom has a hat on, so his body is very silhouetted, if that's a word, and the lights on the top floor porch caught my eye too. Last but not least, I love the processing. A FAV!
@petersonsheri the lack of footprints was the first thing that struck me too Sheri. I love the lights and the hazy sun peeking through. very atmospheric Peggy.
@petersonsheri Thanks, Sheri! I always love your comments. It was an odd feeling being the only people at the train station this morning aside from a few folks walking their dogs. That building to the left is the Duke Power Building ~ Tom's office building is a few blocks from it - toward the center of the photo. He could walk the mile to work, but the train station is only a few blocks from our house and it's just so easy to take the train when wearing a suit, dress shoes and carrying a messenger bag. :) Thanks for fav!
Very cool picture! Wow, look at all that snow. I always wonder where everyone gets their heavy winter coats in places that don't have that kind of weather (usually) :)
So SO cool! Love the modern buildings on the right with the solitary figure. And this blanket on the ground...really awesome! Hope you find more fun shots in all of this!
@pfmandeville Thanks for the comments, Pamela. While we don't see a whole lot of snow, it does get cold in the winter here in NC...lows in the teens and 20's aren't unusual. I think you'd have to go as far south as Florida before at least one heavy winter coat isn't an essential wardrobe piece.
@madeline515@jpblanton@bluemoon@rafaelseno@isisweiss@vinadity98 Thanks for the great comments, everyone! Yesterday was a far nicer day with the powdery snowfall. Today it's all about the ice ~ it's a skating rink out there. Very treacherous...the city is pretty much in shut down mode.
