OK, so it's not a groundhog ~ I think they're all snowed in. Actually, we don't have groundhogs around here so I'm using local wildlife for my forecasting purposes. This nasty little possum did not see his shadow. Maybe that means an early spring.
Disclaimer: Photo was taken a few days ago so the prognostication might not be accurate. :)
i think we dont have those here in my country, philippines, but i could be wrong. gives me the creeps when i see animals that i'm not used to seeing. very nice flash & framing.
@glyn Well, the front part isn't too bad...it's the back end/tail that's a little skanky...and that happens to be hanging over the other side of the wall. :)
So did you lure him with the bird food or is he a regular visitor? I used to volunteer at a local nature center where we had an opossum in the rehabilitation center. We would hold the little guy so the children could see the pouch. Thinking back I can't believe I did that!
Great, clear shot of your little visitor Peggy! We get them all the time, along with skunks and raccoons....they come around at night and eat the cat food! We call ours Petey. I think they fall into the 'they're so cute, they're ugly" category! I think groundhogs are definitely cuter and probably more accurate predicters though! :)
I have not seen an opossum in quite some time...come to think of it that is ok with me! Nice to see you are helping to keep the wild life fed during the winter months. Wish they were a sign of early spring! Fun shot to see.
Cute capture. Quite different from our possums and not nearly as pretty, but has its own attractions. Love that mean look and you can see the little teeth at the front.
Happy Possum Day! :) I sure hope it is in early spring. I don't think the east coast/mid west can handle much more winter! :) Awesome shot of this little cutie!
Oh my gosh Peggy! I can't believe that you were able to just snap a picture of a possum!! I think I would have to go to a zoo to do that. Amazing picture, and very clever my friend!!
Cute shot x
@clarissajohal ...YES, Clarissa...I think you may be!! haha
