Actually I think the completely full moon is tonight. But we have clouds and a bit of rain in the forecast, so I thought I would take advantage of last night's perfectly clear skies. While Tom was at the NCAA basketball tournament, I was set up on the sidewalk in front of my house with my camera, tripod, notebook (with my list of researched settings), and a glass of wine. This is the first moon shot I've taken with my Nikon and manual settings. I was really pleased with the results. I didn't know this was possible until I started photography class. :)
@annibodi We have rain in the forecast for tonight ~ that's why I wanted to get out last night and see what I could do. I really don't have a super good zoom for the Nikon. My biggest lens is 55-300mm. This was taken at 300mm. I did a little cropping to make it slightly larger. Think I'll research zoom lenses and put one on my birthday or anniversary or maybe next Christmas gift list for Tom. :)
Excellent shot. I've never been able to get a good moon shot. I'll have to check out your settings and see what you used. Maybe I can 'cheat ' off of you and get a good one tonight. Although I think we have rain forecasted tonight too so I may not be able to get it.
I took a shot on Saturday...I must say it came out terrible...This one is so much better....I posted it and you can go look and see how pathetic it turned out... I guess my next step should be to actually take some photography classes. I need help!
Excellent detail. Where did you find info on shooting the moon? What were your settings? I got a pretty decent shot with a 105mm, f22, 2.5 seconds. I didn't have a longer lens with me. Nicely captured.
@stephsharif Thanks, Stephanie!

Great, great moon shot! That's what I should have done. I saw it on the 18th but was planning on shooting it on the 19th but it was too cloudy. I missed my chance :(
Wow, wow, wow!! This is such a great photo. I swear you can see satelites zooming across the sky in front of that moon. That class must be fabulous, although you have always been great at moon shots. Love it Peggy!!
