I passed this man on my way to photography class this morning. He was still sitting in the same spot when I got out of class three and a half hours later. I have a feeling he spends a lot of time sitting in that same place. I wish more for him than that.
But on the other hand, don't you sometimes wish you had a little more time to just sit and think (I know I do). At least it was warmer and sunny today . . . Love your selective color!
Peggy this is so good I agree with the above comments on the photo from the others but on a personal view it jsut sums up life passing by quickly & very few of us have the time to take notice of it.
Nice capture, Peggy. You've captured the poignancy of this man's situation with the black and white and the passersby in the background all going about their well-heeled day. Love the selective colouring, too.

I'm pretty sure it's an addiction problem, Terry. I noticed a bottle in a brown bag among his possessions in the backpack beside him on the bench.
love the sharpness of your picture. The yellow adds some hope to a rather sad picture. I would like to believe he is taking in the world around him but I know it has already taken him. Hope you are enjoying your photography class 3 hours lucky;)
I think it's great how the sun is shining on him, but everything else in the background is so much darker and in shade...really makes him the focus of this shot. Well done!
Amazing what scenarios can be built from a shot that captures a moment in time. I'd like to think that there is more to this guy's life. Love the yellow cab though :-)
I really like the editing on this picture, and I agree with you Peggy, my heart usually hurts for people if I fear they are homeless or jobless. Everyone has a story, and it's just a matter of whether or not they want to share it. I hope you are enjoying your class!
Excellent photo! And important - for me to remember the world doesn't revolve around me! I think that's really the reason street shots are so fascinating to me. (Ha, see there, I've said the word me three times in two sentences!)
I love everything about this. It is so clear and sharply focused and the yellow cab works so well, both literally and figuratively. Interesting how the capture of one moment in time can spur a lengthy discussion.
