LiveStrong Day by peggysirk

LiveStrong Day

In a 365 discussion a couple of weeks ago, Weslyn Hoekstra @weshook encouraged those that were interested to participate in a LiveStrong Day post today in memory of Barbara Harris. The theme is a repeat of an awareness event Barbara promoted two years ago on October 2 - "A Taste of Yellow" using yellow food and hearts in the photos.
Barbara was one of the first photographers I connected with in this project. At the time she was battling a cruel and aggressive cancer. Barbara sadly lost her brave fight on June 30, 2012. Having lost two beloved family members to cancer, my amazing older brother and beautiful stepmother, the work of LiveStrong and other organizations in the area of research and support is very dear to my heart. My hope is that a cure is found soon.

Creative photo. I connect with your work. I am visiting your city in December with a girlfriend. Do you have any suggestions of things to see and do?

@breit1 Thanks for the lovely comments, Brightgrammer. And thanks, also, for the follow. I enjoy 'meeting' new people in this wonderful 365community! You'll be coming to town at a fabulous time of the year. The uptown area will be all decked out for the holidays. Are you staying in the center city/uptown area? Charlotte has such a vibrant, safe, and fun uptown. Lots of good restaurants and night spots. Also, six (live performance) theaters. I know that "Cirque Dreams Holidaze", "The Nutcracker" ballet and Charlotte Symphony Pop's "Magic of Christmas" will all be in December ~ (you can google Blumenthal Performing Arts to check dates and availability). There are a number of great museums as well ~ The Mint Museum, Levine Museum of the New South, Bechtler Museum of of Modern Art, Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film. Also there is Discovery Place, The NASCAR Hall of Fame, and a great deal that isn't coming to mind right off. There are some shopping venues...but the closest good shopping would be SouthPark Mall. In the surrounding Dilworth (where I live) and Southend areas there are restaurants, music venues, bars, art galleries, and cute boutiques. This website might help you plan your visit ~ http://www.charlottesgotalot.com/. Feel free to get in touch with me through 365 or psirk1512@gmail.com if you have questions or if I can help you with anything. I hope you and your girlfriend have a fantastic time!

Another beautiful tribute. Cancer sucks. My dad had lymphoma in his late forties and he survived for another twenty years, but the chemotheraphy really did a number on his heart.
