A couple of weeks ago as I was heading up to bed, I glanced out of the window and saw the dogwood tree illuminated by the street light. Sooo, I threw on a hoodie over my pj's and lugged the tripod and my camera outside to the front sidewalk...after making sure the neighborhood looked tucked in for the night. I got everything set up and had taken a few dozen shots when a neighbor walking his dog came down the sidewalk. I thought he was going to think I was a bit unstable out there in my pj's, a hoodie, and barefoot...He thought I'd seen the neighborhood owl. I explained that I was trying to get a shot of the illuminated tree. He was super excited about the process, said he's always been interested in getting into photography, asked a bunch of questions, wanted to know all about 365, then said I'd helped him decide about a Christmas gift to himself. He's getting a camera. :)
Three good things:
1. Friendly neighbors
2. Girls' Night with my friend, Bev, tonight
3. I finally finished my closet switch over!!
Absolutely gorgeous photo Peggy! You are so good at taking pictures at night. I may have to come for a visit once we can go barefoot again so you can teach me your tips and tricks. Beautifully done. :)
All this at almost midnight.......photography does make friends!! It does look a shot worth going out side in your PJ's for! Interesting that you went to all the trouble of setting up your tripod ....i obviously am under rating the effect of a good tripod shot Peggy!!
@happypat Without using auto settings and flash, you have to have the shutter speed set so slow, Pat, that a tripod is a must, else it would be a complete blur. I know...it was almost midnight...I totally didn't expect anyone to come walking down the street! :)
Looks like marvelous stained glass!!!! Thank you for taking the time to follow your instinct and go to all the trouble to take this shot and then share it with us!!! I hope your neighbor gets a smidgen of the excitement when he gets his camera!!!
