Uros and Titicaca lake

The Uros (or Urus) live on floating islands in Lake Titicaca. These islands are made from the roots of the reeds of the lake that are giving it buoyancy, and from the reeds which are those that form the basis on which tread and live. In the area of the houses the thickness of the layer of reeds is higher in order to mitigate moisture that may enter houses. The downside of this is that you have to add new reeds every two weeks because of the degradation of these is very fast by the lake water.
Impressive to see how they live on an island 5 families, an island of no more than 30 meters by 15 meters, with their kitchens, homes and main square. To move they use the boat on the photo, or according to the situtation a much bigger one.
Away from this one, an hour by boat from the island is another population of another ethnic group, in this case it's a natural one and not a floating island, Taquile Island. Amantaní is the district. It has an approximate a population of 2,200 inhabitants. The main villa is 3,950 m high and the highest point of the island reaches 4,050 meters. The island belongs to the Quechua language proficiency and the adjective of its inhabitants is Taquileño / a.
