Here is another photo from my photography class outing to a red rock landscape about two hours from home. This isolated little cabin was such a curiosity. It's hard to imagine anyone making a home in this desert environment and so far away from "civilization".
cool mountains...love the ruggedness. I agree with you....why would someone make a home there?? maybe it's a supply house or something. Love the colors here too.
Wonderful capture - very odd place for a cabin - it would be a lonesome place to live - not to mention the loose rock.
One of the formations looks as if it has a face - anyone else see that?
I love the colours in this. The cabin looks dwarfed by the rocks - as you say,it's hard to imagine anyone living there, particularly if it's so far from towns.
it's true - if i woke up in the morning. stepped outside and saw no-one, no Sea!, no shops i would screeeeeeeaaaaaaamm!! Beautiful composition and dry colours !
I love two things about this. First, the way you capture the isolation of the house. Second, the sheer size/ scope /majestic feeling of the rock landscape.
Interesting that you found a cabin there. I have been to Leslie Gulch and don't recall much civilization. http://www.hisandhersphoto.com/Oregon/hhorse_008.htm Gorgeous setting, and I would enjoy staying there.
@rvwalker Love seeing your Leslie Gulch shot! I have one of the same rock formation. I think that is near the picnic/camping area if I remember correctly. The cabin seemed quite established to me. There is a little outhouse out to the right which you can see it if you view large. It is very beautiful and I think I could enjoy staying there, but not for any extended period of time. Too lonely for me!
Fabulous shot! I love solitude, so I could imagine living somewhere like this....but I'd want some basic creature comforts - running water, electricity, internet :)
This is beautiful Lisa. I always like this kind of amosphere and scene. Looks empty but there is a magical beauty in there. Love the tones of the rocks and the blue sky. Fab for me!
