I attended my son's field trip today to an archaeological park where there are 12,000 year old Indian petroglyphs to be viewed. I took this shot on the way to the park. The rain had stopped for a spell, but the stormy sky and grasses bent by the wind created a dramatic landscape. My son said it looked apocalyptic - like a wasteland - which seemed a fitting title.
I love this image -- fav! What I like the most is the way the land seems to go on forever as does the sky, and both are stunning in the textures. The processing really brings it all out.
I showed this image to Linda and we discussed it for awhile. We came to the conclusion that you can step out of the car anywhere, even somewhere with no really defining features, and CREATE an image that gets people's attention. That is a pretty special talent.
@marie65 Thank you, Marie! It was very impressive to see the petroglyphs and realize how old they are. It makes you wonder about the people who created them, who they were, what their lives were like, etc.
@rvwalker Ross, I am overwhelmed by your compliment. That you see talent in my images means the world to me. I can't thank you enough for your kind words and especially for your support throughout this project. I feel very fortunate to have met a photographer and person of your caliber in this experience.
@pflaume Yes. I spend a lot of time looking for rock art and a section of our web site is devoted to it.. Idaho has a lot, but not much on public land, so Celebration Park is pretty special.
