I had the great pleasure of meeting fellow Idahoan and 365-er, Ross Walker @rvwalker, during his visit to Boise on Friday. It was great fun to get to know him in person and also to meet his wife, Linda and sister-in-law, JoAnn. We enjoyed lunch followed by a photo outing to the old Idaho Penitentiary. The afternoon was over far too soon for my taste; I am already looking forward to the next possible meeting. This shot is in one of the oldest cell houses. There are four rows of cells climbing the wall each lined with a narrow catwalk. The cells themselves are tiny and shared by two prisoners. No running water or plumbing to be had. Ross and I both commented on the presence of one small radiator to heat the cavernous space. It is an extremely bleak and sad place. We took a few photographs and were glad to step out again.
Awesome capture....must have been pure torture to spend time there. Hope the thought kept some from becoming criminals...but I doubt it! SOunds like a fun meeting and outing!!!
wonderful to connect with fellow 365-ers ... waht can be more fun taking pics together ... although the context seems dark .. love how the picture turned out ... the colors and light and the overall mood seemed realy apt and captures the mood really well!!
How nice to see @rvwalker. You and Ross are a couple of my fav 365 friends to follow because you both are amazing photographers and wonderful people! This photo has a great sense of history to it--I imagine it, like the photo Ross put up of the laundry room, has a story or two to tell. So glad you two got to meet!
Great shot! And isn't it great meeting a fellow 365er? I've made some good friends through this project and regret I live too far away from so many I'd love to meet!
A very bleak looking place. You've captured the dismal atmosphere. Couldn't have been very pleasant having to spend time locked up there. Sounds like you had a great meet up though.
great shot and so interesting...in July I posted some shot of the Ohio State Reformatory...these old prison are so interesting to shoot, hope someday to see this one too
Great light and composition and a very thought-provoking shot - the place must have been a hell-hole to live in.
So glad you got to meet a fellow 365er!
What a great capture of a bleak place. What's happening to the building now?
So glad you got to meet a fellow 365er!
So happy you had such a great time and visit with Ross and Linda. :-)
