Day Two of the Balloon Festival. This time I made it to the launch on time, but the winds were too dangerous for flight so the launch was cancelled. The pilots did inflate their balloons and I had a wonderful time photographing them up close and personal. I love the little flags hanging along the foreground balloon. They reminded me of a vintage balloon illustration which I tried to capture in the processing.
i can't wait until ours in October. surreal colors! the middle balloon looks like airbrushed art. the forefront wrinkle-y realistic. super fun shot full of vibrant excitement despite the cancellation of the event. sounds like you had buckets of fun weaving in and out the varieties of patterns and color! :)
love the color and the processing! I should try that to some of my balloon launch shots. sorry you didnt get to see them go up today! will they have a glow? that was one of the coolest things Ive seen in a long time. :)
This is a brilliant shot..... the colors, composition, POV. We've always toyed with going to the balloon fest in New Mexico each October. Just haven't. We ought to work this one in on our way to Alberta some summer..
Fabulous shot!! You're so lucky to have a balloon festival near by. I went to the one in Albuquerque several years ago and only wish I'd known then what I know now about photography! I hope you post some more of the festival.

Lisa, love this shot. Was this in Boise over Labor Day Weekend? I was at that one on Sunday. Some of these balloons look familar. Congrats on going to the top 20 with your photo. So well deserved.
@sansjuan Hi Nita! Yes, this was in Boise on Sunday over Labor Day weekend. That is wonderful that you were there, too! It was too bad that the balloons did not fly that day but still fun to see them all inflated on the ground. Are you from the Boise area?
