Excellent splashes. I love the lighting. Great idea to convert to B&W. My kids have their first meet on Saturday but only my daughter will participating this time. Looks like you have a great facility. Love the wall of windows and big clock.
I would have most likely loved this in color too ... but the b/w raises it several notches .. there is a lot going on but you captured it with amazing sharpness ... the vertical and horizontal lines are wonderful and great lighting ... love ..Fav!!
@kwind Thanks for the comment, Kim! I love all your swimming photos. I have lots to learn. :) It is a nice facility. I especially like the large window. My son is a couple seconds away from a qualifying time in the 500 m for the high school state competition. He is hoping to make it at next week's meet. Fingers crossed! Best of luck to your swimmers, too.
This is a terrific capture to show the scene, but it also works for me as a great example of lines for the back to basic theme this week - b2b-lines I think is the tag.
What a glorious B&W. That's the difference between us. If it was me, I would have been right in close trying to get the largest splashes whereas you have taken a "landscape" of a picture of the whole event and have made something that I would never have even seen!
Wonderful capture. I really struggled to get the settings right at the swimming pool. I love how you haven't zoomed into detail but have the whole room included. The exact opposite to what I would have done. That is one of the many reasons why I enjoy your shots. I am learning a lot from following you.
This works really well in B&W - lots of lines and reflections, and of course the splashes! I'm amazed you're allowed to take photos at the pool - it's completely forbidden in most English pools!
I like the way you've interpreted this. Interesting that you're able to get a camera out at a pool where children are swimming - I wouldn't dare do that here.
Wow, very cool idea, A landscape shot at the start of the race. There is so much going with all of the lines, light and shapes, and I love all of the details like the flags, clock and patterns on the lane ropes. The black and white processing definitely unifies the phony. Fav!
