READY FOR THE MORNING by phil_howcroft

READY FOR THE MORNING

After two decent pictures over the weekend, I was struggling for some inspiration tonight.

Anyway here we go. Two cups on our kitchen worktop ready for tomorrow morning !!!

Mornings are always a bit of a hurry / dash, so in order to same a minute or so on the race to get out of the house we fill our cups / mugs the night before. A cup of tea for me and coffee for the wife (we do instant coffee in the UK)

I've gone in close and converted to black and white , to make it slightly abstract.

I don't expect the picture to make the popular page, but I did not really have much time tonight !

WOW that's February completed !
haha... just how much time does that save in the morning??? 10 seconds :-)

I like the asymmetry of this, and the monochrome works really well!

I stopped drinking instant coffee a few years ago now, and don't think I'll ever go back, now I've got a taste for ground coffee. I must take a photo of my cafetiere mug .. my other favourite gadget along with the soda syphon :o)

I was trying to figure out what was in the left mug...I got the tea bag in the right. Must be the instant coffee that Sarah speaks of, above. Obviously, I did not read your write-up entirely before deciphering the photo, or I wouldn't have been stumped! :-) I like this pic, Phil, and it works well in b&w.

Ha, fun shot. I cannot make instant coffee. It is just not right. Need to have fresh ground and drip.

@andycoleborn Andy, It save's quite a lot of time, you've not seen how slow I am first thing in a morning !!!!

@sarahhorsfall Thanks Sarah, we did have a phase of doing cafetiere , but in the busy bustle of a workday morning time is of the essence :)

Great perspective. Like the symmetry, but at the same time, the variation. I think everyone can relate to that early morning haste!

@meredithwb Meredith, thanks for the comments, glad you like it in black and white, it's not quite abstract, but it's close :)

@kerristephens Kerri, thanks again for your continued support and comments. My recent purchase of a tripod helped with this one :)

@patsyjphillips Thanks Patsy, the only real colour in the picture was the brown coffee granules and a little splash of colour on the handle. I thought the bits of colour might distract the viewer !

@deliriousoul Thank you for posting and comment. I'm pleased you like it.

@seattle Constance thank you for your comments. We Brits don't tend to do ground coffee that often. At home and in the office it all tends to be instant. I'd say Brits would use ground coffee when entertaining guests.

If you look in a supermarket shopping trolley or the tea and coffee isles of the supermarket, instant coffee granules prevail ! I suppose it is all part of the difference between UK and North America :)

@phil_howcroft Ha, it is all in what you are used to!

@allie912 Hi Allison, it's good that you see the symmetry and difference. As for the morning haste, it's common in all households :)

@gill Gill, thank you for posting a comment, much appreciated. As for getting my steam train on the popular page, I didn't know about it until Peter mentioned it in this thread. I was pleased to make the popular page :)

@phil_howcroft On a workday morning, I don't get to drink my first coffee 'til mid morning, so after I've been awake for several hours .. fortunately I only have 3 workday mornings a week at the moment!

@jenlyn999 Jennifer, thank you for your comment. It's interesting that the different methods of preparing and drinking coffee in the USA and UK can generate quite a bit of debate on this thread :). Thanks again.
