I've been on holiday / vacation over Easter, so I am way way behind in posting and commenting - In fact I have outstanding uploads from before we went away.
Anyway, I won't post seven or eight images in one night, I will gradually catch up with a couple of images per day.
We stayed in one of the two RIU hotels, which are located directly on the beach about 5km's south of Corralejo in Fuerteventura.
The beaches by the hotels are absolutely stunning. The beaches are located in the Parque Natural de Corralejo and stretch for many kilometers. The beaches are renowned for the fantastic sand dunes which are great to walk along / up.
This picture shows the scale of the dunes. The little figure at the top of the dunes is the wife. and the photo follows her foot prints / steps to the top of the dunes. You get fanastic big skies in Fuerteventura, which I hope I have managed to capure in this shot.
Anyway , this is the first picture of my 'catching up' !!
...been there a fair few times just after new years - perfect for some winter sunshine.
as you say, the sky is always amazing..
Fab shot of these huge sand dunes.
Welcome back Phil! This is an amazing photo. Those footprints show just how fine the sand is, coupled with that so-blue sky, makes me thirsty just looking at it...
Welcome back Phil ... lovely that you've brought us some sandy beach life to view! I really love this photo with the wavy indentations of the sand, the footprints and your wife at the top ... fabulous! When I was a child we used to spend all our summers down in Cornwall and I recall rolling down sand dunes (not as high as this one) so I always have a fond memories when viewing dunes! Hope you had a wonderful holiday! :)
Are you sure you didn't go to the Sahara? Good of your wife to head up there to give it perspective. Safe to say you definitely didn't stay in Nottingham....
@meredithwb Meredith, thanks for the continued support, Fuerteventura is a Spanish Island off the coast of North Africa, the scenery on the island is stunning ...a very sandy and volcanic island
@allie912 Allison, well there you go, we all learn a bit from 365 !!! Hey I was able to pass on some knowledge to a well read librarian ...how good is that :)
@nodecaff Cheers Dean, we were in the Riu Oliva Beach, the Riu Tres Islas was well outside our budget !!!....it's always quite breezy :) ..but believe it or not on a couple of the days it was really really calm :)
@gill Thank you Gill, the dunes really are amazing :)..As for 'rolling down sand dunes', well even a 50 something bloke runs down these dunes enjoying a carefree moment !!!
as you say, the sky is always amazing..
Fab shot of these huge sand dunes.
When we were there it was terribly windy though (even by Fuerteventura standards) - I think I'm still getting the sand out of places!!! ;-)
