This is where I tend to sit when I do my 365. Multi tasking (watching TV, doing my 365 and keeping an eye on Ruby). Yes men can mulitask....only sometimes I may add.
Ruby sits to my right and keeps tabs on my browsing (oooh erre a firefox browser pun there !!!)
Anyway I'm not only watched by Ruby, but I'm also watched by Lucy !!! The B/W canvas on the wall is an image of our first whippet. Lucy was also a rescue dog , she was also a black and white dog. We got her in 1995 from the RSPCA (approx 3 years old) and she was a big part of our family life until 2008.
The shot on the wall is from 2004 (she was quite grey by then). The canvas is from an image that was shot on my first DSLR an 6 megapixel Canon 300D. The detail in the canvas is incredible for a jpeg file of approx 3 megapixels.
I suppose I should have posted a selfie with my laptop, remote control for the TV and Ruby ...maybe another day for that !
That photo of Lucy looks stunning on your wall with your sofa underneath! It really is a great shot ,you must be proud of that !! She will be keeping an eye on Ruby to see if she is behaving herself !
What a darling! Great shot and so lovely that you have her there to remember and enjoy. Nick refuses to have the dead ones pictures up whereas I am very keen to remember them and look at them every day. I have their ashes in caskets on the top of the gas fire (sounds really naff but I love that little area and the thought that some of them is still with me. I want to be scattered with them off a cliff in Cornwall and Nick if we can get someone to do it for us when we are all ashes to ashes, dust to dust) and their collars and some little post card sized pictures of them that he has stopped putting flat at last. I think I shall set about doing some huge watercolours of them to put up :-) Nick has had enough time to accept the inevitable...
Great shot that makes a wonderful piece of art and a nice memory of Lucy. I hope Ruby will be getting her portrait hung soon so she can gaze at her beauty too!!
Aw Phil, Lucy looks adorable! How lovely to have her portrait on a canvas, looks really stunning. That's a great view you have when you 365, a tad tidier than my usual view. A lovely simple photo, the straight lines work well. @whippeteer My partner has an opposite but equally strange point of view: he doesn't understand why i put up so many photos of holly and the children when we see them every day! I think he would only have photos of our past pets on the wall if I didnt keep putting the others up... lol.
This looks like a great home Phil. A wonderful photo to have of a loved pet. I had a rescue dog...57 varieties!!....she died in '96 but i still have her picture around. I like the composition of this....did you have to have a tidy up before taking the photo?? :-)
I thought this would get @whippeteer excited! It's a lovely canvas and co-ordinates very well with your furniture - tell me you didn't decorate your house to match your whippets?! Lovely composition though - there's something very pleasing about the cushions.
@Cherrill thanks cherrill, the lounge is always tidy, so no tidying up pre shoot !!!! If you want to see an untidy room, there's only one in the house....that is the 'computer room' i.e our little bedroom that doubles as an office !!!
@whippeteer thanks Frances..watercolours of your whippets......does that mean you paint with brushes and paint with your iphone too :) Glad you like lucy (I sometimes call Ruby, Lucy !!!)
I love this shot Phil - a real look into your life!! and Lucy looks like a darling dog! great shot BTW - always amazing to have something of your own blown up on the wall!
@phil_howcroft Oh I am a dab hand at traditional watercolours, either from photos or life but I rarely make the time to do them. I would be happy doing pet/people portraits for a living but I am not brave enough to give it a go, plus it is hard to make enough to survive on. My preferred painting tools are natural bristle brushes, fox and sable are my faves tho I feel bad about the animals I don't think they live to tell the tale except through the artwork they are used to create. I will post one I did of Nick one day when I need an easy capture. Hey did you see there was a progamme tonight about Michael Caine? I never did take the blue plaque which is a cockstride away from my flat - it would have been an even weirder coincidence if I had posted it today - another shot to have up my 365 sleeve
@cath thanks Catherine, I will try to post a selfie with laptop, remote and Ruby...lol...I will have to look my 'best' though surrounded by ruby and lucy :). Thanks for your support :)
I have been away and, although I have been looking at pictures, did not have time to comment. I really like the colors of the photo harmonizing with your couch and pillows. What a lovely tribute to a good friend.
