Friday evening, walking Ruby , the skies turned black and it absolutely poured down (that's a UK expression for raining very hard)
10 minutes before it was dry with a bit of dappled sun !
Anyway, this is shot from underneath a tree as Ruby and I sheltered from the rain.
If you look closely you can see the rain splashing up from the road.
The AA van in the centre of the frame is a little burnt out (it was yellow) as the sun is still shining from the right of the frame.
I like the reflections in the road.
The image looks good in colour, but I wanted to try a infra red B/W conversion because the trees turn out great in infra red.
Ruby and I stood there for about 30 seconds before we made a 'run for home'. The little whippet was desperate to be dried, attempting to dry herself on the curtains in the hall as soon as we got home !!
*** Thanks to everyone for the 'stolen hanging basket' comments yesterday. I will catch up with commenting over the weekend ***
Just come in from a night out so of course had to look at 365 !! I like this picture so much as the trees seem to be in 3D from the sky , a fantastic effect !! The AA van looks like it is skidding in the road because of the rain & you could really write a story about it !!
It looks almost like snow on the trees. I had a similar experience walking this afternoon. I had already postponed my morning walk because of showere so I was eager to get out this afternoon. About half way through my usual circuit the trees began blowing hard and thunder started cracking. I took off for home as fast as I could and made it through the door just before the heavens opened up. I felt very lucky.
Great - really moody and that road is brilliantly wet. We have to shut Monty in the kitchen when he's wet as he rubs his ears on anything he can find to get dry (including my trousers) - in fact I notice we have a tell-tale streak of grime on the kitchen wall...
Wow, great processing. The fact that its an AA van turning the corner somehow makes it look more dramatic than if it were an ordinary car.. Love the rain splashing up.
@seattle thanks Constance, I think our English summers are a bit different from what you get in Seattle !!! It can be 30C one day and raining and 16 C the next....that's why we English are always talking about the weather !!!
@judithg thanks Judith, I hope I managed to show the bad weather , as for dogs drying themselves on any available source ...well ...from a dogs point of view.....it seems quite sensible to me...dash for the first thing that absorbs water :)
@sparkle thanks Juliette, you are right the AA van was popular :) ....there's a local bus that travels down this road advertising a local radio station .....GEM 106.. the bus has a big logo plaqstered all over it ....I will have to photograph it...it says....ahemmm.careful with the words now ..."Turn on the Sparkle" !!!
Had to come over after your such lovely comments. This is great.....it absolutely poured down ...lol that's one phrase we use in England lol Love the shiny road and the splashes of rain. I agree it looks the van has skidded. This is a great effect.
Ah poor Ruby! Ours go on the bed and roll all over the blanket and duvet cover, they love it if I take towel to them and try and get the worst off. The shot is great I can see those rain drops IR looks neat! I got a bit soap boxish on the next post - sorry about that - it is the rabid socialist coming out in me LOL!
