I'm off work for a few days and this shot was meant to be of a crop field (wheat I think) near Oxton village. It's a really nice field with sweeping contours and a few nicely placed trees. I suppose I did not do my research as the sun was shining directly into the camera and therefore not conducive to an easy shoot (note I did not purposely visit this place, we just happened to be passing).
Anyway, I spotted quite a nice set of signposts together )with a 'think bike' sign. I quite like the dented bottom sign to owdham (Lowdham) and ottingham (Nottingham).
I've no idea how they could have got dented as they are quite high off the ground !
The 'think bike' signs can be seen at regular intervals along the Oxton to Southwell road because it is windy (that's windy as in curvy as opposed to windy as in breezy) and hilly (hilly as in it goes up and down a big hill) and therefore very popular for motor bikes !
Nice signpost shot but looks in an odd place on the edge of the field ! I suppose there is a T junction to the right ! I wonder how the sign got broken ?
@happypat Pat, correct , it is at a T-junction, no idea how the sign got dented though.....a lot of farm machinery passes this road , maybe it got clipped by one !
Great shot, I am a fan of road signs they are kind of magical full of promise :-) We have a Think Bike sign by the Rotherhithe roundabout and a shrine near the zebra crossing on lower road where a biker died no idea how. It is sad cos I think he was quite young with a family. It is not a crazy bike riding hot spot.
@whippeteer cheers frances, you are right road signs can make great images....i did one in spain a couple of years ago ....it was at a junction, there were so many signs at that junction it just had to be photographed :)
