We went on a long walk this morning and the sun was low, which meant quite a few of the shots were 'contre jour'
This is my wife having stern words with Ruby after she'd tried to squeeze through a gap in the hedge - the same gap she nipped through last week. Last week she nipped through the gap and went running parallel to the hedge on the other side. That sent me into a mad panic and I went running down the path after her only for her to appear through another narrow gap.
Anyway, today she had serious words when she attempted a getaway ! Ruby is looking at Jane all attentive as if saying 'yes no problem I won't do it again !!!'
In the distance you can see parts of Arnold and Redhill ! My wife is back lit by the low sun and the fields are almost shimmering
A fave Phil !! I nearly faved your other shot but thought I would look at this first & this is a super photo !! Lovely light & dark layers & then Jane & Ruby against the sun looking in darker outline. I like the bending down pose too !! The path & the hedge draw the eye to the back of the photo beautifully !!
Excellent! I couldn't say enough about this photo! You've done a fine job with the story, Phil! Hope Ruby is better and her leg is healing! Great job, guy!
@happypat thank you Pat, you sort of know when you have a good shot as soon as you see it on your camera screen ....just a few tweaks in PSE to make it B/W and a tad more atmospheric
@marlboromaam thnx marlboro, I always look forward to your comments...Ruby's leg is better, although she is in trouble again for biting the scab off the wound ! !! :)
Stunning B&W Phil - you've captured this really well - love the path leading you to the tree line - plenty of interest in this one - a fav for me I think!!
What an impressive panorama. I love the long view of the fields. We have nothing like these wonderful hedges in the US. I guess someone has to trim them on a regular basis. The relationship you have captured of Ruby and Jane is lovely. The tilt of their heads says so much about their relationship. This is a keeper, for sure.
Oooh Fav Phil! What a great path - in fact I was just thinking 'dog proof' when I read your blurb! Monty wouldn't be standing listening he'd be through the gap and off - he never forgets a gap - but he does usually appear ahead just when I've panicked and gone back. LOVE that view!!
@sparkle thankd for the fave juliette, i sort of knew it was going to be a good shot as soon as I clicked. I got about 6 shots from the same scene .....this wasn't the best exposed but I liked the relationship between Jane and Ruby
@judithg ha ha Judith, I like your words 'dog proof' :) , we though it was 'dog proof' too.............but little whippets can get though the smallest of gaps...I was amazed she remembered the same gap though !
a good win for us today and looks like we'll avoid div 3 (or div 1 or whatever) so reckon we'll be ok for a pompey/bolton match next season ;-)
fab shot with the light.
