Ruby @ f1.8, ISO100, 1/250 sec

I bought a Canon 50mm F1.8 lens today.

On a 450D on a 1.6 crop factor it become a 80mm lens

Ideal for portraits,

It is a relative cheap lens at something just over 90 GBP , but it gets great reviews on various forums and websites

I've bought it so that I can shoot some great people shots at my daughters wedding (August next year) .

I had no one to practice people shots one (my wife does not like having her picture shot), so I took a few Ruby shots !

Here she is shot on the widest aperture possible , listening to my wife asking her if she wants to go for a 'walk'.

I'm stood just inside the kitchen door and Ruby has one paw in the kitchen and one paw on the patio
I know this look - it's either walk (and for ours, there's no standing still!!) or food!! It's a great lens Phil, think you'll enjoy playing with it - especially some of your alley way shots too! great shot of Ruby - she looks totally adorable here!

Look at the attention - whippets speak with their ears. I quite fancy a 50mm but too many expensive holiday/18th birthday/Uni fees months!!

@judithg thanks judith , it's a really fast lens and I tthink it will be a good addition to my 450D. I might get my wife to take a 'selfie of me' (is that a contradiction...wifey taking a selfie of me !!!)

Gorgeous Ruby & you had to get that lens just because we can now see her finer points!!!! Do you like that camera you have Phil ....I am thinking I might upgrade a little but don't want to spend a massive amount when I will in all probability still use the P&S every day. I just fancy being able to change lenses .
