Stopping The Traffic by phil_howcroft

Stopping The Traffic

This is a picture from Sunday. A follow up from the Remembrance day picture of church. This is a selfie, the shot was took by my youngest daughter.

If you remember from Sundays picture, the police did not turn up to 'escort the band', so it was left to Matt (my daughters fiancée) and myself to don the high vis jackets and stop the traffic on surrounding streets as the band marched from the scout hut to church.

I've stopped the traffic coming down the hill (behind me), so the band can merge into the road from the 'Give Way' lines. I'm about to do a little run to the street on the right hand side, to stop traffic turning into the road.

I suppose legally I was breaking the law by stopping traffic, but hey it was a good deed of the day, helping out the band !

You can just see the church tower in the distance on the top right hand side of the frame (behind some tree branches)

I'm behind with my pictures, I've got a Monday pic to post, but as it's getting late that will have to wait until tomorrow.

Sonds like this was a family affair. Did Ruby get to march?

@allie912 ha ha Allison, no dogs allowed in church, so Ruby was tucked up in her bed on this cold autumn morning !

Well I think you'll find it's bad form to run over the band on Remembrance Sunday so they should be pleased you stopped them!

And I think you are rather enjoying your moment of total control ..??!!

Oh good for you!!!! I think laws are meant to be discarded on such occasions...and using our common sense is a great British trait!

Absolutely rules are meant to be broken in these sorts of cases - at least you were wearing a high-viz - you look all official so nopbody was going to stop you!!
