Clougie and his Kurdish Friends

Nottingham has a Kurdish community of over 4000 and a considerable number of them today congregated outside the Brian Clough statue to protest against the Islamic State (IS) attacks on the people of Kobani, in Kurdish Syria

I worry about posting pictures of protests on my 365 project as the 365 community isn't a forum to air politics. It is however a forum for sharing a picture a day and this is my picture of the day.

The protest was peaceful and respectful, but was obviously an emotional occasion for the Kurdish community.

Cloughie's statue has become an unofficial 'speakers corner' in Nottingham. When I walked past it earlier in the morning it had a few Socialist Workers Party members collecting signatures in a petition to raise the minimum wage.

Anyway, back to this shot, I really like the little girl at the bottom of the frame joining in the protest.

ITV news covered the event and further information can be found by following the link below

Good to see this Phil......always good to see any protest about supporting peace & against all violence.
God old Cloughie I'm sure he would be delighted his statue is used for meetings & rallies such as this.....he had a mind of his own & not afraid to voice an opinion himself!
Interesting groups of all ages.

Beautiful shot, Phil. There is so much unease in the world scene nowadays - a lot to worry about for every human being. We are quite close to all the trouble going on in north Africa and the middle east.

She's great and it's a great bit of reportage. I wish I knew what the answers were.

It's a great, documentary capture, Phil. I don't think anyone would view this as a partisan image but take it for the unaffiliated reportage that it's intended to be.
I like your decision to leave this as a colour image, the colours bring out the feeling of vitality in the scene.
