50 mono portraits at 50mm : No. 44 : Nottingham Pride

We went into Nottingham today - Saturday 25 July.

We did some shopping, had an el fresco tapas lunch at Nottingham La Tasca and I took some fabulous pictures of the Nottingham Pride Event, while Jane 'people watched'

Nottingham Pride started with a parade through the city centre, so it was an excellent opportunity to get some street pictures and a few portraits for my mono project

The parade had an eclectic mix of Lesbian , Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and straight people. Not that we should label people, we are all people of the world.

Everybody in the parade seemed happy to have their photo took and this lady struck up a pose for me when I asked if I could photograph her

Edited in Rawtherapee and converted to mono with an Ilford XP2 filter.

I hope you like this shot
Fabulous! I didn't realise Nottingham had a Pride parade - looks like a lot of fun.

Wonderful detail and a characterful portrait. (I think I tend to crop my shots at the top a bit more - maybe it's when men have bald spots!!)

@quietpurplehaze thanks hazel, i do crop my portraits quite a bit, to help the sitter fill the frame and I try to leave enough space . I have seen portraits where the head is cropped (to get in really close) and they can work well when the bottom of the frame is cropped too

Well, here's someone who's very comfortable about posing; I love the pucker up! Nice light on her earring hoops, it makes a good contrast to the other tones and draws them togehter.
