Those of you who read my previous post / picture, will know I bought an adapter to attach an 81 year vintage Leica lens to my Sony Alpha 6000.
Well this is the first result of my experiment.
The Elmar f = 9cm 1:4 lens fitted easily onto the adapter and the adapter clicked onto my Sony.
It was dark by the time I was ready to use the camera, so I got Jane to take a picture using the built in flash on the Sony.
I put the camera into manual mode, set the aperture on the lens, set the shutter speed and told jane how to manually focus the lens.
You can also shoot on aperture priority, adjusting the aperture manually using the aperture ring on the lens.
Using the built in flash was maybe not ideal conditions, but I was keen to try the lens out. I will take some images in daylight tomorrow and over the weekend, so I should get a better idea as to how the lens behaves.
Anyway, I've found a whole new genre of photography to explore. Attaching old lenses to modern cameras. I will take a keener eye on the camera corner when I visit charity shops :)
Respect to Jane to, for managing to manually focus and take the picture :)
What a result. Jane has done a great job. Maybe a little photo editing to make this guy look a little younger =). I guess you'll be experimenting further with this new set up.
I am so eager to meet my brother-in-law to see if the old lenses he wanted to get rid off are still available. He has been asking everyone whether they would take them for free. I like the result of this shot and, I have to add, your lovely smile. Many thanks for your lovely comments on my post of yesterday. I, too, consider you one of my best friends on this site.
Indeed respect to ajane! She's done a great job for you. Interesting idea to use old lenses in the new modern photography era! A hole new road to go down Phil! It's a great shot of you but definitely not a stranger!
