Stuart in Mono by phil_howcroft

Stuart in Mono

This is a mono version of Stuart, stranger number 127 in my second round of 100 strangers
This gives a totally different feeling than the color version, don't you think? Neither is better, just totally different effect.

A good characterful face to photograph and the detail in his beard looks great!

@allie912 you are right allison, a different feel and mood, I kept the contrast low to try and soften any harshness

A timeless feel to this in B/W - such a gentle and soft image !

You're so good at portrait!

He could be welcome in our own home town - slightly Victorian with a lot of steam punk! Unless he's Amish?

This is good, Phil. I did wonder if the background would appear a bit harsh in b&w - well done!

Excellent portrait shot (as usual). Fav. I must have missed the coloured version. Now I have to go look for it.

I like this b&w treatment...I did just check out the color but this one I find more compelling. Maybe because he is more featured than the colors...maybe?

@granagringa thanks :) rather unusual for me in that i prefer the colour :)

@sangwann thanks dione, your support is always great to receive

@quietpurplehaze thanks haze , i went for quite a greyscale feel to the mono with no big contrast

@maggiemae thanks Maggie, we have no Amish in the UK, well not in Barnsley outside the football :)

@kwind thank you ever so much for that lovely compliment

@beryl thanks beryl , god shout re the softness
