Urban : Underneath the Ring Road

Another image in my urban series of photos.

This is underneath a bridge in Basford on the Nottingham Ring Road. It's a few minutes walk from work, so I went exploring on my lunchtime walk.

The road above the bridge is quite a bottleneck at rush hour as there are two road junctions carrying two roads that cross the ringroad.

The bridge spans the River Leen, the Nottingham Tram Line and the Robin Hood Railway line.

Shot with my Samyang (Rokinon) 12mm wide angle on my Sony A6000

Love how the light works for you, highlighting the artwork and yet also showing the trees at the end of the path without being over-exposed.

Doesn't graffiti lend itself to photography, is it the wild mix of colour or the contrast against the brick/concrete background. Whatever, I like it!

Looks like it is very popular with graffiti painters. Great shot but I cannot say I like these graffiti because I think they turn an area into a slum area.

Colours are great. I am looking at this and wondering if it somewhere I would feel safe wandering alone or not. Interesting how grafitti makes a statement of "mine, not yours, go away" sometimes. A bit like a cat scent marking an area or declaring a territory, and yet many times it isn't meant that way at all.

@casablanca thank you , you are very observant as the area under the ring road is a little dodgy and I wasn't too comfortable at first but once I was out of the tunnel it was OK.

@kerristephens thanks kerri

@sangwann Dione ot is off the beaten track a little so it sits there with not many people to admire it , although the passengers on the trams and trains will see it :)

@ellida Graham , a straight on pic of graffiti is sort of photographing someone eles art, but giving it context like this sort of justifies it :)

@busylady thanks judith, you are right about the art
