We went to Nottingham Mela today at the beautiful Nottingham Arboretum Park.
It was a hot and sunny afternoon and people enjoyed the celebration of South Asian arts and culture.
This is Honey who is a Renaissance woman slash creative entity, Singer Songwriter, Choir Director of the Gang of Angels, Artist, Graphic Designer and Image Activist (I copied the impressive description from Honey's website).
Honey has a trade stall selling and promoting her artwork. Her art was very impressive, she had some prints and painting of people. I complimented her on her artwork as we spoke.
I asked honey is she had studied art and she told me she studied Art at Central Saint Martins in London, which is a well respected and well know Art and Design college and is part of University of the Arts London.
Honey is based in Nottingham and as if you follow the link to her website you will she she is a very talented artist.
I asked Honey to stay where she was (in the tent / canopy of her trade stall as the shade and background would make for a good portrait. There is some reflective light in Honey's glasses and on her face (from the wrapping on her cards). At first I was a little disappointed when I saw the reflected light, but the more I look at it I think it lifts the portrait a bit and sort of captures the energy of Honey's artwork.
We exchanged cards and I told Honey I would send her a copy of some of the pics.
Thank you for being stranger number 142 Honey, it was nice to meet you today. Good luck with your art and career.
