100 Strangers : Round 2 : No. 163 : Shane (Mrs. Brown)

My second stranger from Nottingham's Saint Partick's Day celebrations.

This is Shane, who was playing the part of Mrs. Brown from the sitcom Mrs. Brown's Boys.

Shane is from Nottingham but told me he and his family had a great Irish heritage. I spotted Shane before the parade started. I got to the starting point quite early so it was easy to engage Shane in a photoshoot as not too many photographers had arrived at that point. 15 minutes later Shane was very popular with photographers , enjoying the limelight as Mrs. Brown and playing to the audience.

I'm not an aficionado of Mrs. Browns boys, but Shane has done a good job creating Mrs. Brown. Mrs Brown has a mole on her cheek, raises her eyebrows and wears her glasses in a similar manner to Shane. As for the hairdo, apparently you can buy Mrs. Brown wigs, which is probably what Shane did.

After the shoot I gave Shane my card asking him to contact me if he wanted some copies. As i walked away I saw Shane put my card in his wallet. I was disappointed it wasn't a purse.

For those of you who don't know Mrs. Brown, here is a link to a picture

I was a a bit hesitant about posting this image, as I don't know if Mrs. Brown is offensive to the Transgender community. A man getting cheap laughs dressing as a woman seems a bit 1970's rather than 2019. In my strangers project I've tried to reflect the streets we live on, so I have posted what I saw on Sunday.

Anyway, Shane, I hope you like the image if you see it and thank you for being stranger 163. You were certainly a popular addition to the parade

There is some likeness of him and Mrs Brown. And you captured the details very nicely.
I never followed that series but have seen some clips which made me laugh. Unfortunately too many people cannot take a joke and are offended easily nowadays.
You would enjoy Barcelona - it is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. Don't forget to visit the Barca Club and stadium.

When cultural references are made, especially those concerning popular entertainers, I'm lost! But I can tell that this is a comedian/comic actor and you have captured him in-character very well.

Good one, Phil...

Oh, it's such a tricky one, isn't it?
It's a very well made image and those of us who know you through your work realise that you are always respectful and also as non-jugemental of others as it is possible for anyone to be.
