My opening line to Rachel was "Can I have some poo bags?", slightly different then my normal approach about being an amateur photographer wanting to take a picture of them !!!
Let me explain , Rachel is part of Gedling Borough Councils Neighbourhood Warden team . The team had a public information stall at the Arnold Carnival at the weekend.
The team deal with issues such as fly tipping , stray dogs , dog foiling , , vandalism, anti social behaviour etc.
That's why I asked for some poo bags, as an introduction / ice breaker. My wife had seen the team giving poo bags away and suggested I go and get some as some members of the team might make a good stranger.
I got into a conversation with Rachel about stray dogs, telling her about how we had found some strays one Sunday afternoon when the council offices were closed .
Rachel has been a neighbourhood warden for almost eight years.
After our conversation about dogs, it was quite easy to get Rachel to pose for me .
I asked her to stand by the side of a marquee / tent, but it was a little cramped and I could not avoid the witness blackboard behind her , but I think that probably helps tell the story. Rachel laughed after the shoot saying I should have come "next week" as she would have had her "hair done" by then :)
