One Man and his dog ...
Well they didn't go to mow a meadow , but they went to the Nottingham Green festival a couple of weeks ago.
We were sat on the step in front of the man and his dog. The dog was giving Ruby (our whippet) some looks. Nothing serious , a sort of "look at me, you are a skinny whippet with not much fur , and I have loads of fur" kind of look :)
I turned round and nodded at the gentleman and asked to take a photo. It was shot on my vintage Industar И-61, 58 mm f2.8 lens .
I didn'tt get any names and dog details , just a nod of approval to take the photo. i think the dog is a Samoyed, which is a Russian breed.
So a Russian dog shot with a Russian lens , that's pretty cool I think :)
Several people have suggested I do a series of owners and their dogs, to compliment my 100 strangers series. This would have been a good start to that project if I had got some additional info' about the man and his dog :) . However I do think the idea is a runner :) , so watch this space
love the idea of a serie of dogs and owners, there's a photographer who does this playing with the look alike of the protagonists, it is sometimes hilarious ! http://www.gerrardgethings.com/
I was and still am uncertain what attracted you most if it was the dog or his human. The dog is very photogenic but the owner has a lovely relaxed look to complement the beauty of his dog.
Fab shot. I like the tension created by having two equally good portraits.. my eyes flip back and forth. The guy's expression adds interest too/ He seems quite cool about you taking the shot and the dog couldn't care less! It tells a story. Fav
