On Thursday (Halloween) we went on an afternoon walk to Colwick Park in Nottingham. It’s a municipal park bordered by the River Trent on one side and Nottingham Race Course on the other side. It includes woodland areas and big lakes and is only a stones throw from the city centre (albeit a rather big throw of about 1 mile !)
There is also a children’s activity area with a giant climbing wall. As we made our way along the path I saw some Halloween decorations underneath some trees. It wasn’t until I got closer that I realised there was a person sat by the decorations.
Meet Alexandra, who is part of the Nottingham City events team who were holding a Halloween themed activity at the park.
I had a chat with Alexandra and introduced the idea of 100 Strangers to her. She immediately said yes. She took her coat off (it was quite a chilly day, especially sat underneath a tree in the shade of the autumn leaves.
Alexandra was in character and playing Emily the “Corpse Bride” from the 2006 film of the same name.
Emily was in charge of a activity called “what’s in the box”. You place your had in a box and try and guess what’s inside. I assume there are quite a few scary items in the boxes.
I asked her if she’d been sat there long. She told me she’d been sat there from 10 o’clock with a little break. That was over four hours and she’s not had many clients at her stall !!!
It was quite a difficult shoot with shade, bright backgrounds and Alexandra’s grey make up , but the vintage Yashica ML 50mm F1.7 lens has done a decent job. Alexandra was holding a bouquet of grey roses. You cannot see them in this photo as this is my favourite photo from the shoot , I will however post a follow up photo to this with the said roses.
Alexandra asked if the photos could be used for the Event Teams website, with acknowledgement to me as the photographer. I gave her my card and said of course they could.
Thanks for being stranger number 192 Alexandra, it was lovely to meet you.
