I've got an EOS-M42 adapter which means I can attach my M42 thread vintage lenses to my Canon 60D (as opposed to my Sony A6000),
This is my first portrait post with the 60D and a vintage lens. I attached the wonderful Helios 44-2 58mm f2 lens from the KMZ factory in Russia.
The 60D is harder to manually focus than the A6000 as there is no focus peaking. When I asked my wife to take a picture she kept missing the focus ("I'm not a photographer you know"), so I told her to stand by the back door and I focussed the camera on her. I marked my position using a garden table chair ! So we then swapped positions and all she had to do was stand up against the chair.
I think we just about got it right.
The Helios 44-2 is a copy of a Zeiss Biotar and is renowned for creating good portraits with soft skin tones. I think it did a good job on me , albeit I cloned out a bit of dry skin on my nose ("Are you using that moisturiser " questioned Jane)
Anyway, here is my portrait. I have had two lockdown haircuts from the wife so far and my hair is OK !
I wish I was photographing one of my street strangers with my lens, but that is not really practical in the current environment.
You are always very photogenic Phil because you have a lovely warm smile. B&w brings out your best features and your wife did a good job with the scissors. From now on you will never go to a hairdresser again. That's what happened to me since I got married.
