Cosmic 35M vintage camera by phil_howcroft

Cosmic 35M vintage camera

I bought this camera last week. £5-00 from a local charity shop.

The Cosmic-35M, also known as Smena-8 is a 35mm camera made at the LOMO factory in St. Petersburg.

Technical Detail

Lens: Triplet 43, 40 mm, f/4, 3 elements
Focal range: 1 m to infinity, scale-focus
Shutter speeds : B, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250
Shutter type: 3 blades diaphragm shutter
Apertures: f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/11, f/16
Film type: 35 mm film
Size: 70 x 100 x 60 mm
Weight: 289 g

It looks fantastic, I might put a roll of film in it ! You have to be careful though as the the shutter can be pressed without you winding the film on, which means you get double exposures !
You must have an amazing historic collection!

@casablanca Casa' , I'm not too sure if it will focus correctly...If i keep turning the focus ring the whole barrel comes off in my hand , so i am not too sure how accurate the scale will be as your can get the same distance marker twice as your turn the barrell !!!

@allie912 Allison , the addictive nature of collecting old cameras and lenses can lead to "GAS"...Gear Acquisition Syndrome !!!

I had one of these. Nice little camera with nice character in the lens. Excellent lomo camera without the price. It weighs nothing. I didn't use mine enough. Too many cameras and lenses.
