This is a bust of Sam Morley and a rather beautiful Cherry Tree at one of the Nottingham Arboretum entrances.
It was impossible to walk by this stunning tree without taking a picture
As for Sam Morley, he was an woollen manufacturer, a political radical, MP, abolitionist, and a believer in worker’s rights. He introduced pensions and allowances to his workforce Apparently he refused a peerage from the Queen as he did not want to be ‘seen as above the people.’
I hope you like this bit of Nottingham Park life and history
All the people
So many people
And they all go hand in hand
Hand in hand through their parklife (Know what I mean?)

@allie912 allison, apparently Sam had a full statue outside the Theatre Royal, but it caused traffic issues, so they transferred it to the Arboretum, but the statue tippled over during transport and only the bust survived the fall !!!
Gorgeous shot and scene. I like how the tree covers the frame with its beautiful flowers leaving space for the memorial. Also thank you for the interesting history.
