Just home from Leicester. I went to see the Women's Six Nations match between England’s Red Roses and Ireland today at Welford Rd.
The game was a bit of a miss-match given the IRU (Irish Rugby Union) had bizarrely made their entire backs line fly half way around the world to participate in a Sevens tournament. That said, they held England to 10-0 at half time but ultimately the class of England paid off in the second half as England ran out winners 69-0.
I thoroughly enjoyed the match, the ball handling levels was unreal and unlike the men’s game that seems to rely on sheer size, the women’s game is based purely on skill and speed. A world record attendance of 15,830 was also set today for a women’s rugby match.
wow, that some score and love to see the stadiums are full. I am a huge soccer fan. Every time you say Leicester I think you are going to talk about the soccer team lol. Next time I visit England I will have to make it to a rugby game, this looks awesome!
