Occasionally, only occasionally, we have a visit from a Kestrel, that lives nearby, to our garden. He generally swoops in, lands on the fence and scares the proverbial out of all the other birds in the garden, before flying off to the trees that line the field behind our property.
With maximum zoom I managed to capture him this morning, just as he left his perch atop the trees; I am guessing he spotted lunch.
A very common resident of the UK, in winter they tend to abandon the uplands and some migrate to continental Europe (I’ve read that some of the continental Kestrels migrate to the UK for the winter – go figure). They are abundant around where we life, seen frequently sat in the tree tops, on the hedges or hovering by road sides, looking for their next meal
He's gorgeous, lovely capture. I often find the bird has left the shot by the time I click the shutter or the wings hide their head! Love this one, well done.
@busylady Thank you for the view, comment, fav and follow. He's a rare visitor, but when he drops in he scareds the living daylights out of all the other wildlife :-D
