Rainbow Challenge Day 19 - Red

Day 19 of the 'Rainbow Challenge’

My Mother left me this oil lamp in her will; I'd never shown much interest in it when she was alive, so I'm guessing that she knew that in the 1970s I broke the shade when home alone and then spent a number of days trawling through the yellow pages to replace it before she and my family came home from holiday. I knew it wasn't a perfect match and, at the age of 17 or so, was amazed I'd got away with it. She certainly never said she'd noticed, but I've always felt that this was her way of saying that she did; Mother's know things.

Ha ha, that is very funny! Yes, I bet she knew! But little did she know it would provide you with a rainbow red :)

Oh! I broke mother’s oil lamp shade when I was ten. I had to use my allowance for a month to pay for the new one she found. Your’s is beautiful!

A beautiful red shade. If course she knew and was probably very proud of you for finding a replacement shade.

Have heard this story before obviously, I find it hard that the woman I knew wouldn’t have said anything, but I may be wrong!
