Last day of my long weekend today. I’ve spent the day in the Bath area with a camera and a National Trust membership card.
This one of only four Palladian Bridges standing in the United Kingdom (another is at Stow Water Gardens in Northamptonshire (where the other two are, I have no idea))
This one is in Prior Park Landscape Gardens, in Bath which is only accessible after a 2.5 mile hike up an incredibly steep hill out of the City centre.
The gardens are what is left from Ralf Allen’s estate, which he landscaped after taking inspiration & advice from a certain Capability Brown. Allen is reputed to be one of the four entrepreneurs who ‘founded modern Bath.’ The National Trust have had the gardens since 1993. Allen’s house is privately owned and not accesible by the public.
The shot is SOOTC HDR.
Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s ‘end of year two’ montage. Much appreciated.
@louannwarren Yup. SOOC - was shot on an automatic ‘Backlit HDR’ setting. Bluetoothed to ‘phone and posted. I was amazed by the shot; all of the bridge photographs that I took in same camera setting came out like this.
@777margo@milaniet All the houses and gardens we’be visited this weekend that have lakes and/or ponds are suffering the blight of blue/green algae. Been brought on by yhe really hot weather of Jun & July. I heard recently that the lakes up in Cumbria are the same. Looks horrid and is pretty toxic also. Ranger I spoke with yeaterday said they’d be cleaning their ponds out in October “after the newts have hatched” so i’m guessing it’s okay for the residents.
This is an awesome sootc photo. Such a beautiful bridge. That is quoted a homeboy get there, but it was definitely worth it, especially for your 365 followers.
Wow! So gorgeous!
