Dahlia Fire

This is one of my favourite Dahlias; always pleased to see it has survived the winter in the ground. I follow the Monty Don (for my followers not in the UK,Google him) school of Dahlia maintenance, “leave them in the ground (and hope for a mild winter)”.

Monty Don is rather good at such things. I still follow the Percy Thrower school on roses - cut 'em right back to almost the ground they rise up stronger every year. He's right, but it's scary!
