Last of the Hydrangeas

This is the last Hydrangea flower that isn't already begining to die off as we move toward Autumn; it is no longer attached to the plant as Carole took it for her excellent still life after I'd shot this. What are flowers for if they are not to be enjoyed in or out of the garden.

I wish we could grow hydrangeas in our garden but they just won't take. We used to have them in Melbourne but here in New South Wales by the ocean doesn't seem to suit them.
