Father’s Medals by phil_sandford

Father’s Medals

My brother is currently researching my Father’s history in the Royal Air Force. He has obtained his service record from their Personnel Records Office in Cranwell and is now working his way through a myriad of paperwork. He asked me if I could take a photograph of Dad's medals to send to him.

As I’m down in the SW with work and had no chance of any photography I thought I’d share the photo.

Left to right; 1 - General Service Medal (GSM) 1918-1962 with Malaya Clasp. 2 - Queen’s Coronation Medal (1953) and 3 - Long Service Good Conduct (LSGC) Medal with Clasp (the clasp is for a further 15 years of undetected crime)

My Father left me them in his will; I’ve had them Court Mounted and wear them, with my own, on Remembrance Sunday.

Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.
Love how The Queen's portrait changed over time. What does court mounted mean? Do you give them a polish before you wear them?

@30pics4jackiesdiamond They are fixed to a board on a pin long enough for how many medals and the ribbon descends behind the medals. Of course I clean them, and mine, before I wear them (I wear them once a year l)
