Feeling of danger

Three thousand photos of tulips and irises and I decided to go with the snake. Why? Well, I guess I'd like to remember this feeling of danger you cannot escape immediately.

We got to the tulip island in early morning and spend here something about forty minutes before we saw a first couple of snakes. Then we started paying attention to it and found out that snakes are literally everywhere around us.

Knowledge is a tricky thing. We couldn't just walk anymore, being aware of the menace. And we couldn't fly or run away from there as we were in the middle of the island, in about one and a half kilometer from ferry. So, what we had to do is to walk back, carefully paying attention to every step, knowing that the danger is around.

This is a very special feeling of readiness and concentration. And even though it's uneasy and even a little exausting to feel this way, I still like the feeling.
beautiful head focus! what kind of snakes are these? are they poisonous? being from Australia, while I don't see snakes every day, they are around all the time

@koalagardens this is vipera ursinii (or meadow viper). They are poisonous but it's not deadly, more like a hard food poisoning.

thank you for replying - I looked at them online and found that as usual we are more harm to them as their numbers decrease like so many animals. the patterns on them are quite lovely :)
