Well, I saw a lot today. I saw a couple of geyser eruptions. I saw a bear. I saw a bear bathing in a geothermal lake. And something else. And now I'm sitting on this stairway surrounded by fog that has covered almost everything around.
And I can't help but think how much the majority of tourists miss. They pay something about 700€ to come here for a couple of hours to have a quick walk, see an eruption and hopefully a bear and then go back to where they came from. What could they feel? That they've been there? When you see it all one the run in the middle of the day it's not even that impressive.
It's just... I don't know, like to see a North Pole from the window of the plane. OK, you've seen it. But the feeling wasn't there. Probably, not everybody needs a feeling. Probably it's just me. But I can't help but feel sorry for these tourists. They miss so much.
I hear you - it's like I can't describe living with nature, regenerating natural bush and observing the changes daily is hard to explain when someone comes and 'sees' a wild koala :) amazing stairway!
I have become disillusioned with visiting areas that attract crowds. Nature is best quietly savored, and I can't do that when I am surrounded by people and viewing on a schedule. This definitely looks like a place to be savored.
