Facing a predator

It was so hard to choose one photo for this day, it took me almost a week. Not only because there are six hundred of them, but also because they are filled with very different emotions. I ended up with this bear, cause he is very memorable for me – it's the first (but not the last) bear in my life who tried to attack me. Some bears tried to came at us before, but there always were us, not just me.

Here I was alone. And it was obviously my fault. Trying to take a better picture I let my guards down and came a little closer than I was supposed to. The very next moment after I took this picture, the bear started coming at me.

I don't think he aimed to kill or eat me, most likely he just wanted to scare me and make me run away. So, the hardest thing was to not, cause it is actually the worst thing you can do in front of a predator. The moment you're starting to run, you're becoming a prey, even if you weren't initially.

And even thought I knew all this, it was still uneasy to overcome initial impulse to run. And not to show the bear I was scared of him (apparently I was). Fortunately, loud emotional yelling worked very well, so I didn't even have to use my hand flare.

Even though there was no real danger, it was still heart-pounding. Evidently I was stressed, cause I spent next hour taking macro pictures of a spider.
Nice story, capture! Glad everything turned out ok!!

I could feel the heart pounding as I read your story! Next you absolutely must give us one of the macro shot of a spider so that we can feel the continuance. Loving your work!
