One of my favorite Florida birds, and yes it has a spoon bill!
I had never seen a spoonbill until I came to Florida 14 years ago. I was and am facinated with this pink feathered, spooonbill called a Roseate Spoonbill. Although not in flight here, this pic clearly shows the spoonbill. Capture at Animal Kingdom, Disney World Florida.
Thank-you all for your comments and favs for yesterdays Blue Dasher!
It has such pretty colours, although I can't decide if that spoon is attractive or not. I suppose it would be attractive to another spoonbill and that's what counts after all.
Beautiful capture. Those are some amazing birds. The only place that I can find them, is at the Alligator Farm, in St Augustine. And that's only during the nesting season.
I have seen spoonbills in Tanzania and in Australia, but they have been different species, and have always been white - great to see one with gorgeous pink wings
